Dear colleagues,
2023 is a special year for the Romanian Society of Vascular Surgery: RSVS completes 10 years of activity. To mark the moment, the management of the Society decided that this year we deviate from the rule of organizing our congresses every two years. So, this year, instead of the RSVS workshops, we will organize a new edition, the 6th, of the Society’s Congress.
A second element of novelty is the location we have chosen for this anniversary edition: for the first time, the Congress of the Romanian Society of Vascular Surgery will take place in Cluj-Napoca, between October 18-20, at the “Golden Tulip” Hotel Ana Dome”.
In these 10 years, we managed to make the Romanian Society of Vascular Surgery a visible and relevant professional body. Just a few arguments in support of this statement:
- RSVS currently has its own emergency endovascular intervention program AP-EVA, financed by the Ministry of Health;
- We are currently running two national programs funded by CNAS;
- We have a public opinion awareness program “Pas Pentru Tata”
- We are represented at UEMS – Section and board of vascular surgery;
- Through RSVS, Romania is the 5th country of the European Union that is a member as a country (whole-country membership) in ESVS
- RSVS proposed and established the Vascular Surgery Commission within the Romanian College of Physicians
We consider the above listed solid arguments in support of the idea that the RSVS is a living, mature and active society, dedicated to the mission it has undertaken, for the benefit of its members and, finally, for the benefit of the vascular patient in Romania.
Part of the mission we have undertaken is the permanent updating of information relevant to our specialty among RSVS members, and the events we organize are a significant tool in this regard. We wanted, and we consider that we have succeeded, that at each edition of the RSVS Congresses we raise the bar of the quality of the scientific program higher, and the RSVS Congress 2023 is, in addition to an anniversary edition, a new stage in this journey. That is why we invite you to actively participate in this joint effort by registering for the event and proposing your papers to the Scientific Committee.

RSVS 2023 Courses
Carotid Doppler Ultrasound
Intensive one-day carotid Doppler ultrasound course, including theoretical presentations, case presentations and numerous quizzes. The course is addressed to all specialist doctors as well as resident doctors in the specialties of vascular surgery, cardiology, neurology, internal medicine. No experience in carotid ultrasonography is required.
The course is organized under the auspices of the Romanian Society of Vascular Surgery.
Venous Ultrasound
Notions of normal venous anatomy * Elements of normal venous hemodynamics * Examination technique: equipment, examination methodology * Doppler ultrasonography – normal appearance * Ultrasonographic appearance in venous pathology: deep vein thrombosis, SDR, post-thrombotic, superficial thrombophlebitis, varicose disease, echo-guided sclerosing of perforators
